Habema Task Forces Successfully Captured An OPM Personel In Titigi

INTAN JAYA - The task of maintaining security in the assigned area by the TNI Task Forces in Papua is the implementation of the Presidential Instruction to the TNI Commanding General as stated in the Presidential Instruction Number 9 of the year 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua. The TNI Soldiers meticulously planned and executed the task in the Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province. On Monday, 9 September 2024, based on the security updated situation, the Commanding General of the HABEMA Operations Command in Papua ordered the TNI Task Forces in the Sugapa District to conduct security tasks in the Titigi Village, including checking vehicles along with passengers and materials in the cars.

Upon receiving the order, in connection with the area of responsibility, the Soldiers immediately prioritized security factors and the humanistic side in checking vehicles. At around 09.40 local time, the Soldiers politely stopped a motorbike about to pass through the Inspection Post. They conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle and the driver, Ruben Zanambani, in a professional and respectful manner. Afterward, they asked the driver to step out of the vehicle for further inspection.

Based on the inspection, the Soldiers found some photos taken by the driver, Ruben Zanambani. The photos showed the activities of several members of the Free Papua Movement Organization (OPM) carrying long-barreled firearms located in the Titigi Village, Sugapa District. Seeing the photos, the Soldiers directed Ruben to the Inspection Post to be questioned further until this news was published.

"The firm action of the Soldiers in Titigi Village in maintaining security, including successfully arresting an OPM personnel, is an effort to maintain security stability to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region, " said HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, after receiving a report on the implementation of the activity.
