YAHUKIMO - In a heartwarming display of community care, the Marines Task Forces of Infantry Battalion 6 under the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA carried out an inspiring initiative during their mobile security operations in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Thursday, November 28, 2024, the Marines, led by Captain Septian from the Halabok Post, brought smiles and a sense of hope to the children of Dekai Village through a simple but meaningful gesture free books.
During a routine patrol, the Marines took a break from their duties to connect with the local community. Recognizing the critical importance of education for the region’s development, the patrol team distributed books to children, sparking excitement and gratitude.
One young boy, Lukas Tabuni, voiced his joy on behalf of his peers, saying, "Thank you for the books, Marines Commander!"
The initiative was part of the Task Forces' broader commitment to uplifting the communities around their operational area. Task Forces Commander Lieutenant Colonel Rismanto Manurung emphasized the importance of such actions in addressing basic community needs and building trust.
“This effort aligns with our mission to support regional development while maintaining security and stability. Education is a cornerstone of progress, and it’s our duty to contribute wherever we can, ” Manurung stated.
